I have never celebrated my birthday with an all-out party of sorts, except when I was a very little kid. I’ve always just liked quiet afternoons or very intimate dinner celebrations. I don’t really know why. I’ve just been like that for quite a long time already.
I just celebrated my 20th birthday with my boyfriend Miggy, who celebrated his 21st birthday 5 days before mine, at home. We had food delivered because I was too lazy to prepare anything (shame on meee) and watched basketball on TV. Then we went out with my tito Noel and ate at three different places and now my tummy is as big as ever, which reminds me, that is a really good excuse to go out and break in my new pair of running shoes which I got for myself as a gift (because Miggy did the same and the shoes were on sale too!). I didn’t get to celebrate it with my closest friends because they are all seemingly busy right now, but we all made plans for the future and I look forward to them. heehee :-) I miss my parents though. We would always have a small handaan at home with the family, relatives and family friends. I’m getting used to celebrating big occasions without them already, but it’s just not the same. I bet the pizza in heaven tastes better too. *Jealous*
Anyway, I had a fine birthday. I got to celebrate it with the people who matter most to me, and though I did not receive as many presents as I used to way back when I was still in grade school, I still feel really blessed for the small things:
- My kasambahay who managed to buy and wrap a present for me (ang sweet diba?) and make champorado for breakfast
- Being able to find the last pair of Adidas ClimaCool Ride on sale to be in my size and preferred color
- The very nice delivery guy from Jollibee who delivered my birthday food at home hahaha
- Miggy, despite having bad colds, cough and fever, came over to my house and celebrated my birthday with me (I let him sleep for a while though because he looked so sick :c huhu) :”)
- The many friends who greeted me via Facebook and text message
- My neighbor who offered to pay for my tricycle fare
- The very scrumptious lunch/coffee merienda/dinner with my tito.
My list made no grammatical consistency. Haha K.
Happy 20!
I thank God for everything :-)
